Breeders Meeting – Thursday 29^th January 2009

NEHFC brings a breeders meeting to the forefront of our calendar kindly sponsored by Eurogene.  The meeting will take place on Thursday 29^th of January in the Snailbox @ 8.30pm.

Eurogene will present us three very interesting speakers. The two first mentioned are direct from Select Sires in the US.  They are responsible for bringing us top bulls such as Oman, Damien, Mr Sam, Zenith, Lightning, Amature and a lot more to the Irish market. The third speaker is a very interesting dairy farmer from Offaly.

Speakers:

·         Natilie Keane - Natilie is the granddaughter of “Duane Conant” of the famous Conant Acres and daughter of “Steve and Debbie Keane” who managed the famous Drigo herd in Maine, USA where Mario Xacobeo the new number 1 type bull in UK was bred.

·         Jeff Zeigler - Jeff is the new head of Genomic Dept at Select Sires.  He will give us an insight into DNA selection for bull proofs

·         Paschal Walsh - from Edenderry Co. Offaly. Paschal is renowned for quality milk production and has won the Glanbia Laois-Offaly quality milk award for the last 20 years. Paschal has recently retired from school teaching to put all his energy into dairying and the building of a “state of the art” milking parlour. Positive guy worth hearing.

Club AGM and Maize Results – Thursday 12^th February 2009    A Note for the Diary!!

 
Our AGM and Maize Results with B. Keoghan (Teagasc) will take place Thursday 12^th February.  The night will be sponsored by John Foley of Maizetec.  Charlie Gallagher our new C.E.O. of IHFA will address the meeting.
