Dairy Sale - Tullow 9th March- Sale Report
A Dairy Sale at Tullow Livestock Sales took place on Monday the 9th of March, the sale was conducted by Tony Jackson Auctioneers. There was a steady trade for freshly calved heifers & young cows. Pedigree heifers averaged €1510 ranging from €1400 to €1650. Pedigree young cows averaged €1480 ranging from €1400 to €1550. High EBI PBNR calved heifers averaged €1460 ranging from €1150 to €1650. On Saturday the 7th of March 2009, 60 High Production Dairy Heifers were exported by Tony Jackson Auctioneers. This is the first time Irish cattle have gone to Malta. They comprised of 55 in calf Heifers & 5 Maiden Heifers. They were selected to a very high standard by the Maltese visitors. The minimum criteria were 8000Kg milk for Dam & G Dam & 300kg PD for Milk and good confirmation. Breeders that sold Heifers were; Tom Coniff, Martin Flanagan & Michael Harrison from Mayo, TJ Tuffy & Michael Marley from Sligo, Tony Jackson from Wicklow, Andrew Mc Philips & Micheal Mc Philips from Monaghan and Richard Whelan & Mike Quinn from Meath. The Maltese purchasers were extremely impressed by the standard of the herds they visited & by the Heifers they purchased. Special Dairy Sale - Tullow - Sale Report
A Special Dairy Sale in Tullow Livestock Sales, Carlow took place on Monday the 16th of February, the sale was conducted by Tony Jackson Auctioneers. There was a strong trade for good freshly calved stock. Good quality pedigree heifers ranged from €1500 to €1900 with top price of €1950 for Leacastle Alma 47 from Billy & Graham Codd. PBNR heifers form €1300 to €1600 with a top price of €1650 to John Cullen who was dispersing his herd. 5 Jersey X heifers on offer ranged from €1200 to €1450 & springing cows calving from March ranged from €1200 to €1800 with top price of €1850 again to John Cullen. Tony's next sale in Tullow will be held on Monday the 9th March at 12 noon.

High EBI yearlings make top price. At a recent Dairy Sale conducted by Tony Jackson Auctioneers at the Tullow Livestock Mart the following prices were recorded for 3 yearling heifers from Mr. Dan Cosgrave, a RUUD22 daughter with EBI of €133 made €1420, a RUUD96 daughter with EBI of €80 made €1200 and another RUUD22 daughter with EBI of €81 made €1150.
Dispersal & Production Dairy Sale -
On Monday 2nd February despite the adverse weather conditions the scheduled Dairy sale in Tullow Livestock mart went ahead. The sale was conducted by Tony Jackson Auctioneers, where they had 84 out of the 119 lots available for sale, there was almost a complete clearance with only 3 lots left unsold. There was a good turnout of buyers who braved the elements for the sale. Good quality calved heifers ranged from €1450-€1750 with the top price of €1950 for pedigree heifer the property of Dermot Jackson, the good quality incalf heifers near calving made from €1350-€1550, the selection of good quality maiden heifers ranged from €950-€1150 with top price of €1300 for RUU22 yearling heifer with EBI of €133. Because the weather conditions affected many of their valued customers and several of the sellers attending the sale, to facilitate their clients Tony Jackson Auctioneers are holding another sale on Monday 16th February at 12 noon at Tullow Livestock Mart. This sale will consist of the dispersal for John Cullen & other choice lots, approx 65 head.

600 pedigree milk recorded heifers to be exported to Russia. 200 in quarantine at the moment leaving on Saturday 29.011.08 with the rest to follow two weeks later. These heifers were purchased from all over the country, from Raphoe in Donegal to Kilorglin in Co. Kerry. The average price for the heifers was €1,400. We would like to thank everybody involved in anyway to help make this export venture possible.

held a Dairy Sale in Tullow Livestock sales, Carlow on Monday the 17th of November. They sold 40 fresh calved heifers & young cows. The Pedigree Heifers & young cows averaged €1,680 while the PBNR heifers averaged €1,540. 3 Spring calving (high EBI's) heifers in calf to (AA) averaged €1,320. On the day the top sale prices were for Borkil Beg Echo 7 at €2,350 & Borkil Beg Ethal 17 €2,200 from Dermot Jackson.
