
Following its recent AGM and board meeting, the Irish Holstein Friesian Association (IHFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Rafferty as President and Leo Nulty as President Elect. In addition, Mike Laffan has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Association.
Mary Rafferty, a dedicated member of the Breffni/Oriel Club, has been a cornerstone of the IHFA for over 35 years. Serving as club secretary from 1989 to 2019, Mary is widely respected for her tireless commitment, exceptional organisational skills, and deep passion for the Holstein Friesian breed.
Leo Nulty, a prominent figure in the Northeastern Club and former chairman, has been named President Elect. Leo brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of leadership within the Association.
Mike Laffan, a lifelong IHFA member from Limerick, takes on the role of Chairperson. Alongside his wife Margaret, Mike runs a successful farm and is a passionate breeder and stockman. His professional background includes serving as factory manager for Kerry Group in Listowel. Within the IHFA, Mike has held key roles including Chairman of the Limerick-Clare Club and IHFA Finance Director.
Upon his election, Mike commented:
