Becoming a member of IHFA adds real value to your herd, and puts you at the heart of Ireland’s Holstein Friesian breeding community.
Why Join?
- Pedigree status. Registration adds value to your stock, with pedigree animals consistently selling for higher prices than commercial stock. National herd data from ICBF backs this up: pedigree herds average 913 lifetime days milking, compared to 827 days in non pedigree herds, and produce 60kgs more solids per cow. Using the A+B-C model, that works out at an average of €250 more per cow, or €25,000 across a 100 cow herd.
- Generations of records. Access the depth of ancestry and performance data behind every cow family, so you can make informed breeding decisions backed by real history, not guesswork.
- A path to full pedigree status. Already milking a commercial herd? Our grade up service lets you build toward full pedigree registration over time.
- A community of breeders. Join one of our 15 regional clubs, take part in shows, open days and events, and connect with breeders across the country.
- A future for young breeders. Our Young Members Association gives the next generation a place to learn, compete and get involved from a young age.
