Record June daily temperature a backdrop to a scorching trade for Monamore stock 

The Monamore “Blooms of 2025” sale for Thomas, Rhona & James Kelly conducted by Taaffe Auctions on Friday June 20th last witnessed a red-hot trade for Monamore stock.  110 milkers forward on the day averaged 3,808 guineas. Seventy-six 2025 born heifer calves averaged 1,896 guineas.

  • 15 milkers sold for prices over 5,000 gns

Monamore Lambda Jacuzzi ET RC VG87 2-Year-Old (Lot 23) sold for 9,200 guineas topped the sale. Calved since mid-April she is yielding 33 litres/day. Sired by Farnear Delta-Lambda she is a potential 16th generation VG/EX. Her Dam Annaghmore Arti Jacuzzi Red VG88 3-Year-Old is a potential 12th generation EX Dam. Grand Dam Luck-E Awesome Jacuzzi EX94 2E is a full sister to Luck-E Awesome Joy-Red P EX93 2E and a maternal sister to Luck-E Ladd-P Jamaca EX92. Her heifer calf Monamore Robin Jacuzzi sold for 3,700 gns was the top price heifer calf on the day.

Monamore Cons Vera VG86 2-Year-Old (Lot 49) sold for 8,600 guineas was the next top price. Bred from the Vera family and sired by Sandy-Valley R Conway she is a potential third generation EX92 Dam. Calved since mid-February she has a projected first lactation yield of 10,252 kgs milk, 747 kgs milk solids, 3.78 % Fat, 3.51 % Protein. Her Dam Monamore Veras Pepper EX92 2E recorded a 3rd lactation yield of 11,079 kgs, 1,023 kgs milk solids, 4.92 % Fat, 4.30 % Protein (322 d). Her projected 4th lactation yield is 11,091 kgs, 1,063 kgs milk solids, 5.45 % Fat, 4.14 % Protein. Her lifetime components in four lactations to date is 5.16 % Fat, 4.16 % Protein.                                                                     Monamore Cons Vera’s heifer calf sired by AOT Hampshire sold for 3,200 gns.

Monamore cows & heifers who commanded prices over 7,000 gns include

  • Monamore CM Mogul Twizzle VG87 (Lot 35) sold for 7,600 gns. She is a potential 7th generation EX Dam. Calved since early March in her second lactation she is projected to 10,670 kgs, 779 kgs milk solids. Her heifer calf by Hulu sold for 3,300 gns.
  • Monamore Batmans Darlene EX (Lot 67) sold for 7,400 gns. A 3rd lactation Sandy-Valley I Batman daughter from the renowned Darlene family. She recorded a 2nd lactation yield of 12,198 kgs, 916 kgs milk solids, 3.83 % Fat, 3.68 % Protein (305d). Her VG 2-Year-Old daughter sired by Bomaz Vader sold for 3,300 gns and her February heifer calf sired by AOT Hampshire sold for 3,400 gns.
  • Monamore Robins Halo VG86 2-Year-Old (Lot 28) sold for 7,000 gns. Sired by Robin-Red she is a 13th generation VG/EX Dam. Calved since mid-February she is yielding 34 litres/day. She is sired by Koepon OH Robin Red. Her heifer calf by Rebel Red sold for 2,800 gns.
  • Monamore Pearl 44 VG86 2-Year-Old (Lot 77) sold for 7,000 gns. A 12th generation VG/EX Dam descending from Grovelink Pearl 3 VG she is sired by Westcoast Perseus. Calved since the end of March she is yielding 34 litres/day. Her heifer calf by Westcoast Earlybird sold for 2,000 gns.

Monamore Top Tip Torch VG87 (Lot 33) sold for 6,700 gns. Sired by home bred stock bull Monamore Top-Tip and backed by seven generations of EX Dams from the Torch family she was one of the highest yielders in the sale recording 50 litres/day. Calved since mid-March in her second lactation she recorded 10,782 kgs, 816 kgs milk solids, 3.89 % Fat, 3.67 % Protein as a heifer. She is bred from four generations of EX Dams with Protein over 3.62 %. Her heifer calf by Haniko sold for 3,300 gns.

The sale on June 20th last marked the 63rd sale for the Kelly family. The top cow families in the Monamore herd were all strongly represented on the day. The quality of these animals is endorsed by top grade Classification scores including 12 EX cows and 40 VG heifers. The venue for the sale was Carnaross Livestock mart.
